Artwork Description:
NOW! That’s What I Call: Anxiety (2022) was originally a drawing that I turned into a monoprint for a more scrappy, childlike finish, and digitised for ‘The State We’re In’. It’s a play on the ‘NOW! That’s What I Call…’ CD’s we all know and loved as kids, harking back to a simpler time, but also changing the context to something more relevant today i.e. ‘anxiety’.
“The last few years we’ve been living in what feels like a period of constant upheaval and uncertainty, and I think most people will have felt some form of anxiety through that. My way of dealing with my own struggles with anxiety is to find light in the darkness through humour and my artistic process.” – Trackie McLeod

Bio:
Trackie McLeod’s work bridges the gap between fine art and design. His practice pokes fun at British nostalgia and identity, using humour as social commentary to discuss themes of masculinity, class and politics. Laced with everyday colloquialisms, Trackie’s punchy take on sculpture and textiles mixed with his graphic design background creates a visual language best discussed over a pint of Tennent’s lager and a packet of crisps. He lives and works in Glasgow.
