Artist Bio
Allyson Packer is an interdisciplinary artist whose work considers our embodied relationship to a dematerialising world. Her work has been presented at Nahmad Projects, London; Ada X, Montreal; The University of the Arts, Helsinki; Weltkunstzimmer, Düsseldorf; The Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago and Microscope Gallery, New York.
In 2022, she was a La Box Artist in Residence at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art in Bourges, France. Forthcoming projects include the installation I Am On Fire for Hošek Contemporary in Berlin and the publication SPECTRE, to be released by ENSA Bourges in 2023. Packer lives in Brooklyn and is represented by birds + Richard in Berlin. She is published in the Centre Pompidou’s Journal de l’Université d’été de la Bibliothèque Kandinsky. She lives and works in New York.

We cry when we’re sad. We cry out in anger, pain, or alarm. We cry in frustration, but we also cry tears of joy. Crying is a physiological response to a state of emotional intensity. We are often told as children to “stop crying,” yet there must be moments in our lives that demand this sort of response. And perhaps, in a time of climate crisis, economic instability, and social and political upheaval, this is it.
