Artwork Description
This work was born at a critical climate moment, when the Amazon was burning and the whole world was arguing, pointing fingers of responsibility at each other. That moment inspired Ulombe to create this artwork – a portrait of a man, dressed in hospital pyjamas, breathing through a mask linked to a tree, which he holds as if his life depends on it. The photograph is a social critique of our attitude to nature and a reminder not only of our reliance on, but also duty to, it.
